The organic cell-sensing and stimulating transistor

Some recent report highlight the possible application of TFT as biological sensor (see for instance: S. Toffanin, et al. “N-type perylene-based organic semiconductors for functional neural interfacing”, J. Mater. Chem. B, (1), 3850–3859, 2013).

Organic Cell stimulating and Sensing Transistor (O-CST) can provide bidirectional stimulation and recording of primary neurons. A typical biological application requires organic material in contact with water/oxygen or cells. Hence among the critical requirements there is the high stability in presence of water and cell culture.
